Storage Levels

North East Water operates 22 water treatment plants to supply 37 separate water supply systems throughout the region. Water supplies are drawn from a wide range of sources including groundwater, reservoirs and directly from rivers and streams.

Six towns in the North East draw their water from reservoirs. The reservoirs provide additional security of supply to these towns during the drier periods when the flows in the local streams can be unreliable.
